Hi, I’m Marcus!

I’m the owner of Seed & Oak Counseling and a licensed therapist in Decatur, GA, passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges with honesty, insight, and intention.

We all come to therapy for different reasons—maybe you’re seeking relief, hoping for change, or trying to understand yourself more deeply. Whatever brings you here, I want you to know that you’re more powerful than you may realize. Often, we find ourselves stuck in unconscious habits or outdated patterns of thinking that shape outcomes we never intended. My goal is to help you recognize these patterns, reclaim your power, and begin crafting the life you truly want.

In our work together—whether in-person or through online therapy across Georgia—I’ll take the time to really know you. I’ll provide honest, compassionate feedback tailored to you and your relationships. We’ll explore your thoughts and emotions as they arise, increasing your clarity and deepening your self-awareness. My foundation is in a psychodynamic therapy approach, but I draw from various evidence-based techniques to support your specific needs.

My professional journey began in spiritual care—as a hospital and hospice chaplain—before I earned my Master of Social Work and transitioned into psychotherapy. While I found meaning in supporting people during moments of deep crisis and grief, I longed to build more lasting, collaborative relationships with clients. Becoming a therapist allowed me to walk alongside people not just during difficult seasons, but throughout their healing and growth.

I also bring the perspective of someone who has been on the client side. I know what it’s like to sit on the couch, to feel vulnerable, and to begin the process of transformation. Therapy helped me break free from the limiting patterns that once held me back, and I carry that empathy into every session.

So how long will we work together? Just long enough to get you where you want to be—because your life is waiting for you beyond the therapy room.
